Today's run is dedicated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington DC I am deeply honored to also dedicate this run to CPT David Fraser who was killed in action on Thanksgiving of 2006 while serving in Iraq. I cannot express enough thanks to all of our men and women, like Chris Haag currently stationed in Iraq, who proudly serve in our armed forces. Your dedication and commitment deserve much more recognition than some crazy guy running from Maine to Florida. Thanks so much to all of you. This dedication to CPT Fraser was submitted by 2nd Lieutenant Chris Haag, 535 Engineer Support Company, 54th Engineer Battalion, Camp Striker, Baghdad, Iraq. I can't put into words what this dedication means so I'll let Lt. Haag do it in his own words:
Point. He graduated in 2004 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Engineers. During my freshman year Dave was in my company and helped get me through some of the toughest months of my life. Without Dave I would not have stuck around Plebe year and graduated this past year in 2007. Dave was tragically killed just a few days before he was expected to finish a tour in Iraq. He was killed by an IED. I branched engineers to dedicate my time in service to him as well as try to run as much as I can here in Iraq (time permitting) in his honor because I know it's what he would have been doing. He was a great mentor to us young guys from running to being an upright moral person." |
