Once in awhile a really wild idea gets into your head, ferments, grows and if powerful enough has the power to transform your thoughts into actions. Tommy Neeson, husband to Elaine, father to Shelby and parent of a child lost to cancer (Randi) has a passion for running and a passion for helping others in need. In 2007, Tommy raised thousands of dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk, VA with a world record setting 50k treadmill run (see video). And now, Tommy's energy and enthusiasm for running will merge with his leadership and passion for helping others into a very unique event that will culminate with a single step. Four Million Steps, the Ronald McDonald House Run for Compassion will start in Bangor, Maine and end over 2,300 miles later in Miami, Florida. Along the way, Tommy will stop off at different Ronald McDonald Houses to visit and support families affected by cancer and to coordinate runs with corresponding local running clubs in an effort to increase local involvement and support for The Ronald McDonald House. Consider donating to this very worthwhile cause which will ultimately help many, many people who are battling through a very difficult and emotional time in their life. If you are unable to send a donation, consider asking your company to make a donation or send an e-mail of encouragement to Tommy as he prepares for his epic run! Good luck Tommy! - Dean Clifton Friend and Runner |
